OBSERVERS FROM OVER 30 COUNTRIES AND INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS WILL MONITOR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN

On September 3, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Vilayat Guliyev met with a delegation of the CIS Executive Committee led by its Executive Secretary Dmitry Bulakhov paying a visit to Baku.

Bulakhov announced that the main aim of his visit is discussion of the issues related to CIS observers’ participation in the Presidential elections in Azerbaijan and underlined that the CIS Executive Committee pays a prior importance to the Presidential elections in Azerbaijan and observers of the Commonwealth will be actively involved into monitoring the elections, press center of Foreign Ministry reports.

Informing the guests on the upcoming elections, V. Guliuyev said, that a safe political stability and economic development have been achieved due to efforts of President Aliyev. One of the most important tasks is to preserve this success in the future.

The Minister announced that observers from over 30 countries and international organizations have been invited to monitor the elections and expressed confidence that the elections will be held according to principles of transparency and democracy.

Further, the Minister informed the guests on public and political life of Azerbaijan, the course of democratic reforms, work done in resolution of Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno Karabakh.

A number of other issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting.
