OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION TAEKWANDO TOURNAMENT ENDED IN BAKU
Overall, 268 sportsmen from 39 countries of Europe attended the tournament organized by the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism and Azerbaijan Taekwando Federation.
World Champ 2001 winner Niyameddin Pashayev, 68 kg, as well as Aygun Aliyeva, 49 kg, Aynura Mamadova, 57 kg, represent the Azerbaijan national team considered as Europe’s best at the tournament.
Azerbaijan sportswoman Aygun Aliyeva, 49kg, gave her place to her rival and left the field. The winners in this category became Brigida Yague / Spain/, Maya Arussi /Israel/, Nevena Lukic
/Austria/.
Sandra Saric /Croatia/, Sarah Bainbridge /Great Britain/ and Charmie Sobers /Netherlands/ took the places in 57 weight-class.
Men Bahri Tanrikulu /Turkey/, Graig Brown / Great Britain/, Thijs Oude Luttikhuis / Netherlands/ became winners in 80 kg class.
Pascal Gentil /France/, Jon Garcia / Spain/, Teemu Heino / Finland/ won in 80 weight-class.
In 58 kg, among men were Seyfulla Magomedov (Russia), Paul Green / England/, Alexander Shaposhnik (Ukraine).
Nataza Vezmar (Croatia), Sarah Stevenson (England), Laurence Rase / Belgium/ were the women- winners in 67 kg class.
Niyamaddin Pashayev /Azerbaijan/, Tuncay Caliskan (Austria), Jesper Roesen (Denmark) became winners in 68 kg class.
The sportsman taken the first three places won licenses for the Olympic games.
Ambassadors of France and Israel to Azerbaijan Chantal Poiret and Eytan Naye presented the medals.
