OSCE ALLOCATED € 1 MLN FOR PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN GEORGIA
Agreement “On replenishment of the expenses of Georgian government for conducting Parliamentary elections, March 28, 2004” was signed by the Minister of Finance of Georgia Zurab Nogaideli and head of OSCE office in Georgia, Ambassador Roy Rive.
Head of the OSCE office in Georgia reminded that in the course of December meeting held at the sitting of the OSCE Committee of Ministers of 55 member states in Maastricht, the participants adopted a decision on support of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Georgia. “We hope that economic situation in Georgia will improve and the county will be able to finance the next elections from its own budget”, Mr. Rive stated.
He also added that OSCE renders technical support to the Central Election Committee of Georgia, as well as help the NGOs to be engaged in counting of votes in the course of Parliamentary elections.
