Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on stripping Akram Aylisli (Akram Najaf Naibov) of the honorary title of the People`s Writer of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Akram Aylisli (Akram Najaf Naibov), who was honored with state awards during the years of independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in his latest work, abused the people`s every confidence and distorted historical realities of Azerbaijan in an unseemly manner for an Azerbaijani writer. In his novel, he attempted to build an anti-humane image of the Azerbaijani people and groundlessly accused Azerbaijan of acting against the system of universal values. He falsified the essence of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, maligned our distant and recent past, and trampled over dignity of more than a million of our fellow countrymen who were driven out of their homelands by the conflict.

Taking into account numerous appeals from government bodies, non-governmental organizations and citizens to strip Akram Aylisli of the honorary title of the People`s Writer of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a person who sullied this name, governed by Clause 32 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and in accordance with the section “b” of Clause 15 of the “Regulations on honorary titles of the Republic of Azerbaijan” approved by the Decree 130 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated May 14, 1999, I hereby order as follows:

1. Akram Aylisli (Akram Najaf Naibov) is stripped of the honorary title of the People`s Writer of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

2. “Akram Najaf Naibov” section of the Decree 708 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On conferment of the honorary title of the People`s Writer” dated May 23, 1998 (Statute Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 1998, No5, Article 314) is hereby revoked.
