PACE winter session kicks off in Strasbourg

The winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has today started in Strasbourg.

An Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation led by Samad Seyidov, chairman of the Milli Majlis committee on international and inter-parliamentary relations, is attending the session.

The Assembly is due to elect its President and vice-presidents.

The session participants will discuss the issues relating to monitoring of the presidential election in Georgia (28 October and 28 November 2018), and the early parliamentary elections in Armenia (9 December 2018).

During its session, PACE is also due to update guidelines for fair referendums and will examine the compatibility of Sharia law with the European Convention on Human Rights.
