Security forces have killed two PKK terrorists, including one mentioned on the country's most wanted list in northern Turkey, an official said on Wednesday, according to Anadolu Agency.
Gumushane Governor Okay Memis told Anadolu Agency that Baris Oner, codenamed “Turk Tarik”, was found dead in Kurtun district of Gumushane province following an anti-terror operation conducted at 6 a.m. local time (0300GMT).
Oner was in the red category of Turkish Interior Ministry's wanted list.
The wanted list is divided into five color-coded categories, with red as the most wanted, followed by blue, green, orange and lastly grey.
Another terrorist codenamed “Sorej” -- who was also killed during the operation -- was of Iranian origin, Memis said.
In eastern Van province, security forces have captured a so-called leader of the PKK terrorist organization along with his long-barrelled gun during an anti-terror operation, an official statement said on Wednesday.
Two hand-grenades and gun magazines on the terrorist were also seized during the operation conducted on Aug. 21-22, according to Van Governor's Office.
The terrorist told security personnel he was planning to escape from the terror group for a long time but could not find any chance to do so, the office said in a statement.
The Turkish military also neutralized three PKK terrorists in eastern Hakkari province during an anti-terror operation on Tuesday, the Turkish Armed Forces said in a statement on Wednesday.
Separately, four suspects carrying supplies for the PKK terror group were remanded in custody in southeastern Sirnak province.
The suspects were rounded up in Bestler-Dereler region of the central district after drones spotted the suspects.
