PORTAL OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES PUT INTO OPERATION

A field session of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences on putting into operation of a portal www.ab.az of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan was held on September 24 in the Institute of informational technologies.

Members of the presidium, heads of Academic institutes acquainted with the Educational center, equipped with up-to-date communicational techniques, met with post-graduate students, expressed their views.

The opening of a world-standard Situational Center was held in the Institute of informational technologies. The Situational Center is equipped with modern technologies and meant for holding different actions - conferences, symposiums, seminars, thesis defense councils, presentations, etc.

Presentation of a newly worked, improved and expanded portal www.ab.az was held in the Center.

Opening the field session, President of the Academy of Sciences Mahmud Kerimov pointed out that creation of this portal is a good example of putting into life of the National strategy on usage and development of informational and communicational technologies confirmed by the President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev.

Director of the Institute of informational technologies of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Doctor of technical sciences Rasim Agaguliyev announced that portal contains data base on members and correspondent members of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, its institutes and organizations, heads, doctors of sciences. It is a dynamic information system disposing wide search opportunities. Due to creation of the national informational resources and their presentation in few languages, Azerbaijan from a country importing information may turn into a country exporting it.
