PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN WERE FREE, DEMOCRATIC AND OPEN
PRESS CONFERENCE OF INTERNATIONAL MONITORS OF CIS OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN
The head of CIS monitors mission Yury Yarov making speech at the news conference pointed out that the mission was fulfilling its functions according to the resolution of Commonwealth heads council of May 30, 2003 “On sending monitors of CIS to the Presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan at the invitation of Azerbaijan”. The CIS monitors have started their long-term monitoring over Presidential elections in Azerbaijan since September 15. The Institute of coordinators was created for raising the efficiency of CIS international monitors activity.
Yury Yarov introduced the participants of the press conference. Monitors of Inter-parliamentary Assembly of CIS is led by First Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Federal Council of Russian Federal Assembly for CIS Constantine Markelov; monitors of Central Election Commission of member-states of CIS by member of the Russian Central Election Commission Vladimir Butayev; deputy Chairman of the Committee of State Duma of Russian Federal Assembly for CIS and relations with compatriots Georgy Tikhonov led the monitors of member-states of the Commonwealth.
Yury Yarov announced that CIS monitors have worked out the resulting statement on preparation and holding of the Presidential elections in Azerbaijan. Yury Yarov read this statement.
