PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV MET PRESIDENT OF MACEDONIA BORIS TRAIKOVSKY
Head of Macedonia warmly congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of his election as the head of state, as well as with the comprehensive speech at the opening of the Geneva Summit. He also expressed satisfaction with the fact that he was behind the same table at the official reception arranged on behalf of the UN Secretary General.
President Traikovsky noted that the relations between the two countries should not limit within the UN, they should be developed on the bilateral ground either. He stated that he had consultations with the president Croatia and they intend to invite President Ilham Aliyev to pay an official visit to Macedonia and Croatia. Mr. Traikovsky also informed that he is also to visit Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan shortly. He reminded that once the two countries were in the socialist bloc in connection with whom they have many common, and this should be benefited in realization of mutual ties. Stressing that Macedonia and Azerbaijan take part at the NAO PfP Program, President Boris Traikovsky noted the opportunity of cooperation in this field, too.
President Ilham Aliyev updated his counterpart on socio-economic development of Azerbaijan. Head of the Azerbaijani state gave full information on the continuing Armenian-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He recalled that the United Nations had adopted 4 Resolutions on urgent liberation of the Azerbaijani territories, the Council of Europe in its documents recognized Armenia as an aggressor-state. Despite this, some states regard the problem from the point of view of double standard, President of Azerbaijan underscored.
Heads of state reached an agreement that one of the ambassadors of Azerbaijan in the European countries would accredited as an ambassador in Macedonia, too, and the ambassador of Macedonia in one of the neighboring countries with Azerbaijan would be accredited in Baku.
