A press conference has taken place at the embassy of Ukraine in the Azerbaijan Republic for representatives of mass media, devoted to the 190th jubilee of the great Ukrainian poet, the artist, thinker Taras Shevchenko.

Speaking of the history and dynamism of the relations developed between the two countries, the plenipotentiary ambassador of Ukraine in Azerbaijan Boris Aleksenko has noted that the level of mutual relations promotes development of communications in all spheres, including in the field of culture, science, literature. He, in particular, has reminded of what work is conducted on translation of products of the Ukrainian authors into the Azerbaijan language and Azerbaijan - on Ukrainian. Then, the ambassador has informed how the memory of Taras Shevchenko in Ukraine was immortalized.

And in Azerbaijan, the Ambassador has told, know and remember the great son of Ukrainian people. In his honor in Baku one of the central areas is named, this year here is planned to establish a monument to the great Kobzar.

The Ambassador informed also that within the framework of bilateral agreements between the two countries, in the first half current year the visit of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is planned for Ukraine. Opening is dated for this visit on the Ukrainian ground of a monument to the great Azerbaijan poet Nizami Ganjavi and to the great son of Azerbaijan people, national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The Ambassador has told also about preparation for celebrating 200-years anniversary of Taras Shevchenko, reconstruction of his memorial on the Chernechey Mountain.
