Kiev-based correspondent of AzerTAj met with a well-known Ukrainian scientist in the field of political studies Ivan Varzar, whose works are well known not only in the whole post-Soviet space, but in Eastern Europe as well. Doctor of political studies, Professor, correspondent-member of the Academy of Political Studies of Ukraine, I Varzar commented on the results of Presidential elections in Azerbaijan, Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev’s victory and recent actions of opposition. In particular, he said:

I have been following with interest the political steps of Mr. Ilham Aliyev. I was attracted by his political apparatus of thought, political and psychological views on new challenges, proper leadership in Azerbaijani delegation in PACE and others. I analyzed international meeting of Ilham Aliyev, and first of all, with such known and influential world politicians as, for instance, Zbignev Bzezhinski, etc.

It was seen that Ilham Aliyev’s aspiration to promote a harmonic Azerbaijan joining the globalizing world. By the way, on this issue, he as a European politician differs from central-European politicians, having “farm morality”. Therefore, basing on my observations, few years ago I made a decision that Ilham Aliyev is the future President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. I would like to point out I was sincerely happy over the victory of the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev in his struggle for the most important state post in his country and I wrote him about it in my greeting telegram.

I am sure he will become a worthy follower of policy of a great, I underline, great Heydar Aliyev in flourishing and welfare of his nation!

Related to actions of opposition, its resistance is a political phenomenon as well, I did not feel comfortable, when the whole world watched videos about vandalistic actions of opposition. I recalled a new book of the French sociologist Serge Moskovichi “Century of Crowds”, warning the civilized mankind on harm of ochlocracy, power of crowd.

I consider that Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev elected as President by all-nation elections, is supported by his nation, and should be preserved from the “power of streets” and do not consider this opposition as “sacred cow”. Moreover, people of Azerbaijan have already felt anarchy and dilettantism of the authorities early 90s.
