Paris hosts concert in honor of Khojaly victims` memory
Paris, February 22 (AZERTAC). A concert in honor of memory of the Khojaly genocide victims has been held in the Church of Saint-Roch in Paris.
The concert was organized by the European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS), a UK-registered pan-European organization.
Head of the TEAS`s Paris office Eliza Pieter, prior to the concert, delivering a speech, informed about the Khojaly tragedy. Pieter said “in this bloody act, Armenians brutally slaughtered civilians, murdering 613 people, abusing corpses, taking 1275 hostages. Of them, the fate of 150 remains unknown. Of the killed, 63 are children, 106 are women and 70 are elders. The military invasion completely wiped out 8 families.” She said the Khojaly genocide is not a tragedy against only Azerbaijanis, but all the humanity.
London`s well-known Orion Orchestra conducted by French Loran Petijirand performed works of British composer Edward Elgar, Azerbaijani composer Fikrat Amirov, as well as Pierre Thilloy`s “Khojaly 613” dedicated to the Khojaly victims.
Pianists Sabina Rakcheyeva and Shirzad Fataliyev made solo performances.
The event brought together senators, MPs, public figures of Paris, teachers of various universities, employees of diplomatic corps accredited in France and Azerbaijani diaspora representatives.
During the concert, efforts of Armenians, who have always tried to conceal their crime against humanity, to distribute leaflets in front of the church were prevented.
