Visitors who came to Baku for the 150th birth anniversary of famous writer, thinker, editor and playwright Jalil Mammadguluzade have visited the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.
First of all, they examined the exhibits regarding the history, culture and heritage of the Turkic World.
President of the Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva greeted the guests and gave information about the activities of the organization she heads.
She stated that the Foundation has established with the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the support of the heads of the state of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey.
She stated that the official opening ceremony of the Foundation building was held with the participation of the foreign ministers of the member states and the heads of Turkic International Organizations on the sidelines of the 7th Summit of the Cooperation Council of the Turkic Speaking Countries in October, 2019.
Gunay Afandiyeva informed Martin Javanşiri and Przemislav Javanşiri, Jalil Mammadguluzadeh`s grandchildren who participated in the meeting, of the life of the prominent thinker and writer and how he shed light on the thoughts of the people with a fine line of humor in his works despite his difficult life.
Highlighting the activities of the Foundation for learning, preserving and supporting the culture and heritage of Turkic World, Gunay Afandiyeva suggested that the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great writer to be celebrated in other foreign countries and in Poland as well.
Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan Karim Tahirov stated that the works performed by the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation are of great importance for the heritage of the Turkic World and its people, that this Center is a beautiful place for the Turkic World and their cultural activities, and that the activities it will contribute to bringing the peoples closer to each other.
Deputy Secretary General of the TURKSOY Bilal Çakıçı expressed his satisfaction that the first visit he made to the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation coincided with the days when the great thinker was commemorated and his belief that great works will be carried out to protect the national cultural heritage of the Turkic World and to transfer it to future generations. He also mentioned the works of TURKSOY in this context.
The writer Hemidulla Baltabayev, who translated the novelettes and narratives of Jalil Mammadguluzadeh into Uzbek language, expressed his satisfaction that Uzbekistan has become a member of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation since this year.
Representative of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Literary Institute Ivan Hristov stated that they are ready to cooperate with the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in researching Turkic traces in Bulgaria, and that this cooperation will strengthen cultural and literary relations.
At the end of the meeting, Jalil Mammadguluzade`s grandson Martin Javanshiri said that he was pleased to be in Azerbaijan and said: “It was unexpected for me to be invited to Azerbaijan. Therefore, I brought my son to see our Father's homeland. I am very happy that my great father made such great contributions to the Azerbaijani culture. I hope that our cooperation with the Foundation will continue in the future.”
The event participants then presented valuable books to the library of the Foundation, while President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva presented gifts to them.
