Poland becomes UNESCO Executive Board member

Poland was elected as a member of the UNESCO Executive Board during the 40th UN General Conference on Education, Science and Culture held in Paris on November 20, the Polish Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday.

The country, as a member of the UNESCO Executive Board, will participate in the decision-making process regarding reforms that will determine the future shape of the organization.

The Executive Board is one of the three UNESCO bodies set up by the Constitutional Act. It is the most important intergovernmental body that supervises the implementation of the UNESCO programme and budget. The Executive Board consists of 58 countries elected by the General Conference for a 4-year term.
