Gakh, August 16 (AZERTAC). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended a ceremony to commission water supply and sewerage system complex of the city of Gakh.

Chairman of Azersu Gorkhmaz Huseynov informed President Ilham Aliyev about the "Reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems of the city of Gakh" project. Mr Huseynov said the foundation of the complex was laid on 11 November, 2011.
The system is capable of supplying water and sewerage services to up to 21,500 people considering the natural growth of city population by 2035. In order to support population’s demand for pure water, it is planned to use springs near the Ilisu settlement. For this purpose, it was planned to build a central water drainage system working on self-propelling basis with the total length of 6.7 kilometers. As part of the project, 6 water reservoirs with 1000 cubic meters capacity have been constructed. The collection and transition of the waste water will be fulfilled through 89.5 kilometers of sewerage pipeline and sewerage-pump stations. The waste water will be transmitted to the waste water purification plant outside the city, with transmittance capacity of 8,000 cubic meters of water a day.
The Head of State pressed the button symbolizing the launch of drinking water supply to Gakh.
President Ilham Aliyev then met with employees and constructors of Azersu.
