President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received Foreign Affairs Minister of the Republic of Ecuador María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés.
María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés extended Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno’s greetings to President Ilham Aliyev. She said she is pleased to participate in the Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Baku. The Ecuadorian FM praised the unprecedented development achieved by Azerbaijan, stressing the country`s key position in the international arena.
María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés noted that Ecuador is interested in strengthening bilateral relations with Azerbaijan. Touching upon the economic cooperation, she said that Ecuador is also an oil exporting country and that there are good opportunities for expanding cooperation in various areas.
The head of state stressed the significance of the Ecuadorian FM`s participation in the Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement. President Ilham Aliyev noted that this visit creates a good opportunity to discuss prospects for bilateral relations. Speaking of cooperation within international organizations, President Ilham Aliyev praised Ecuador's support for Azerbaijan during the voting for the UN Security Council membership. The head of state pointed to good potential for expanding cooperation between the two countries and underlined the importance of strengthening collaboration within international organizations.
The sides stressed the importance of reciprocal visits between Azerbaijan and Ecuador, and exchanged views on the issues of expansion of cooperation in trade, investment and other spheres.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked for President Lenin Moreno’s greetings and asked María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés to extend his greetings to the Ecuadorian President.
