President Ilham Aliyev unveils monument to national hero Koroglu in Baku

Baku, February 21 (AZERTAC). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva have today attended an opening ceremony of a monument to national hero Koroglu in the Koroglu park here.

The Head of State unveiled the monument and laid flowers at it.

President Ilham Aliyev met musicians and scientists.

Author of the monument, Azerbaijan People`s Artist, member of the USSR Academy of Fine Arts, professor Tokay Mammadov, corresponding member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, chairman of the Milli Majlis standing committee on culture, professor Nizami Jafarov and Chairman of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers, People`s Writer Anar thanked the Head of State.

President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva were informed about the monument and Koroglu Park.

The monument with pedestal is 23 meters high.

The bronze monument was made in Ukraine.

The Koroglu park occupies a total area of 1,3 hectares and has 20 light poles and 30 benches.
