President: Interests and well-being of Azerbaijani citizens will remain the focus of attention in my future activity
Baku, April 18, AZERTAC
“Over the past 15 years we have paid great attention to addressing social issues. Figures also prove it. Salaries have increased approximately 7 times and pensions have been raised 10 times. Social infrastructure is being established. More than 3,100 schools have been constructed and repaired, and more that 640 hostels have been built and repaired. 43 Olympic Sport Centers have been created in regions. Social policy has always been in the center of attention. I have repeatedly commented on this issue and would like to say again that interests and well-being of Azerbaijani citizens will remain the focus of attention in my future activity,” said President Ilham Aliyev as he addressed the swearing-in ceremony.
“Given that we will be carrying out very serious reforms in the years to come, I am sure that the standard of living of citizens will further improve. Azerbaijan has attained great results in the alleviation of poverty.”
“We can say that all foreign organizations dealing with this issue cite this as an example – poverty has reduced from 50 to 5.4 per cent. We have done great work in respect to unemployment, which is now at the level of 5 per cent in Azerbaijan. The number of population has increased by 1.5 million people in the past 15 years. However, the number of jobs has increased almost accordingly. I would like to repeat that we will always be keeping this factor in the focus of attention in our future activity,” said the President.
