President of Association of Republican Pilots: Ganja museum is a striking example of friendship between Azerbaijan and Spain

“For many years we longed to come to Azerbaijan to visit the graves of our relatives. This dream has now come true with the help of the Azerbaijani government. The museum established in honor of my compatriots in Ganja is a striking example of friendship between our nations,” President of Spain-based Association of Republican Pilots Aquilino Mata Mier has told AZERTAC. He attended the opening of a museum commemorating Spanish pilots who trained at a military aviation school in Ganja (former Kirovabad) in 1936-1939.

“Our parents frequently recalled Ganja when we were little kids. This is my first visit to Ganja. Among the first pilots who trained at the academy was my father.” “

We are very grateful to President Ilham Aliyev, great Azerbaijani nation for strengthening friendship between Spain and Azerbaijan, as well as to residents of Ganja for their warm attitude towards us,” Mata Mier said.
