RASUL GULIYEV ANEW EXPECTS HELP FROM PRO-ARMENIAN CONGRESSMEN
To make things clear, it is first necessary to clarify who Mark Kirk is. According to the information the AzerTac correspondent has learned from reliable source, this ‘advocate of democracy and justice’ was elected in 2002 - instead of the known stickler for Armenians John Porter - to the House of Representatives at the latter’s recommendation. Earlier, he had been working for many years as a chief of the administration of the most influential member of the working group for Armenian issues - de-facto Armenian lobby in the U.S. Congress - John Porter. Mark Kirk himself is a member of that group, and routinely makes pro-Armenian statements.
For less than three years of his Congressional activity, he has become the initiator of series of pro-Armenian and anti-Turkish legislative acts. Supposedly, the activity of the paid lobbysts of the ex-chairman of the Milli Majlis had given a good chance to Mark Kirk enjoying his membership in the working group on human rights to sting Azerbaijan once again.
It should be reminded that as early as 2000 – 2001, a number of pro-Armenian Congressmen put forward the initiatives on the surface for protection of Rasul Guliyev’s rights, but in fact, directed against interests of Azerbaijan, our common Homeland, the opposition is allegedly taking care of. The authors of those resolutions and letters Congressmen Smith, Pitts, Tancredo began together with Mark Kirk’s ex-boss John Porter; now a ‘new generation of advocates of the Azerbaijan opposition’ has come to take their places in the person of the Congressman Kirk himself.
The most attractive is the fact that the efforts by Rasul Guliyev’s lobbysts meet with support exactly among the ‘steadfast pro-Armenian Guards’ of the U.S. Congress.
