SEMINAR ON PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS LAUNCHED
Opening the event, CEC chairman Mazahir Panahov noted that Azerbaijan uses all tools to hold democratic, transparent, and free Presidential elections. To this end, new Election Code, which meets international requirements, was adopted and, as well, perfect legal base was established. Preparation process is going on in compliance with the law. Registration of the candidates was fully completed and pre-election campaign is in progress. Precinct and district election commissions are formed and special CEC groups are conducting trainings in the provinces, which are being attended by representatives of the international organizations. At these seminars, commission members inform on the rules of compiling of voter’s lists and election protocols, making ballot boxes, calculation of votes etc.
On behalf of the Government of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov expressed gratitude to international organizations for assistance in the preparations for elections.
Then, speeches mainly focused on the issues, connected with common principles of the Election Code of Azerbaijan, rights and duties of candidates during election campaign, role of media in agitation work, rights and duties of electors, candidates, district and precinct commission members on the election day. As noted, this election code of Azerbaijan meets international standards and must ensure democratic elections.
At the training seminar, the participants exchanged views on wide-range of issues.
