SEMPRA TO BUY 140,000 TONNES OF AZERBAIJANI OIL

According to the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), the U.S. company Sempra has won a tender to buy 140,000 tonnes of oil from the September consignment of Azerbaijani oil exported through the Baku-Novorossiisk pipeline..

"It is planned to ship the oil on September 25-30," the representative of SOCAR said.

SOCAR will export a total of 220,000 tonnes of oil through the Baku-Novorossiisk pipeline in September. As reported earlier, ChevronTexaco won a tender to buy 80,000 tonnes, to be shipped at the start of September.

SOCAR plans to export a total of 2.5 million tonnes of oil through the Baku-Novorossiisk pipeline this year, which corresponds with the level of 2002.
