SOUTH OSSETIAN SIDE OPENS FIRE ON GEORGIA’S NIKOZI VILLAGE-OFFICIAL

The South Ossetian side opened fire on the Nikozi village in Georgia, Chairman of Georgia’s Defence and Security Committee Givi Targamadze told journalists on Friday.
Targamadze, who is in the conflict zone said in a conversation with reporters that the one-way firing on Nikozi was carried out with tracer bullets.
There were no immediate reports about casualties.
The chairman of the parliamentary committee said Georgia would dispatch additional peacekeeping forces to Nikozi.
According to Targamadze, “the situation will be assessed” in Tbilisi and “if the firing continues the Georgian side will take adequate measures.”
