Despite of the statement of Prosecutor General Office of May 5, 2003 reading that the related governmental institutions will be stopping illegal actions directed to violation of public and political stability as well as against Azerbaijan’s statehood and legitimate bodies of authorities, and all necessary actions will be taken against destructive forces taking such kind of actions.
Recently, as the day of Presidential elections in the Republic of Azerbaijan comes closer, some oppositional forces acting in the country and printing press representing these forces have intensified their destructive, destroying activities in the above-mentioned context.
In concern of mentioned above, authorized law enforcement organs took a number of actions envisaged by the law to hold up these printing organs, aimed at violation of public and political stability in the country, and putting under doubts legitimacy of statehood, from these illegal actions.
So, in the Milli Oil newspaper of September 276, 2003, article “Tooth for tooth, blood for blood! Revenge! Revenge!” contained thoughts directed to violation of public and political stability in the country, aimed at chaos and confusion in the society, open calls to capture of authorities by forces and change of the constitutional system by violence, to mass unrest, as well as violence against citizens. As a consequence, Chief editor of the newspaper Shahin Agabeyli and the author of the article Muhammad Ersoy were warned by the Prosecutor General office of the Republic of Azerbaijan that in case if they go on these actions, strict actions foreseen by the law will be taken against them.
Prosecutor General office of the Republic of Azerbaijan states once more that the related governmental structures will stop any illegal actions, directed to violation of public and political stability, established in the country due to determination and titanic contribution of the President of the country Heydar Aliyev as well as against statehood of Azerbaijan and legitimate structures of authorities, and all necessary actions foreseen by the law will be taken against destructive forces.
On October 3 round 11 a.m., Presidential contender Isa Gambar and a group of people accompanying him, moving in the direction of the Khachamaz town to hold meetings with voters together with local active members of the Musavat party blocked the highway Baku-Rostov by 15 cars and violated a normal rhythm of traffic, tried to hold an illegal street march. Movement at the international highway was blocked for 15 minutes and it caused traffic congestion.
Despite of the fact that traffic police officers of the regional police station demanded these people to unblock the highway, the latter ignored police’s demand, showed resistance to police officers performing their duties and injured five police offices as a result. Besides, they broke windshields of two cars in the road.
As a result of actions taken by police officers of Davachi region, they managed to prevent spread out of the incident.
A criminal file was opened and investigation is going on in the Davachi regional police department on this fact.
Prosecutor General office of the Republic of Azerbaijan states that the related governmental bodies will be strictly stopping all attempts which may cause instability in the country, directed against statehood of Azerbaijan and legitimate organs of authorities, and all necessary measures foreseen by the law will be taken against destructive forces performing such kind of actions.
