STATE DUMA OF RUSSIA TO CONSIDER THE QUESTION ON INTRODUCTION OF DEATH PENALTY FOR TERRORISM

The agenda of the State Duma of the Russian Federation includes the question on introduction of death penalty for terrorism, correspondent of AzerTAj reported. Many Russian parliamentarians and many members of the Russian society back this question amendment in the legislation.

As the speaker of the State Duma Boris Gryzlov has stated to journalists, at session of the State Duma forthcoming on September 22, this question will be discussed: in fact, many citizens of Russia and deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation are for introduction of death penalty. Boris Gryzlov informed also that at the first plenary session of the lower chamber, discussed will be the bills which is necessary to develop and bring to chamber, and all these documents concern the antiterrorist legislation. As he said, 11 bills already are in the State Duma. He also has emphasized that currently the bill “On counteraction to terrorism” is already brought, and the text of the document has been presented to the relevant committees of the State Duma.

Speaker of the lower chamber also informed that the first plenary session of the State Duma would consider the question on creation of the joint commission with Council of Federation on investigation of series of acts of terrorism in Russia and tragic events in Beslan.
