STUDENTS PROTEST IN FRANCE
The government has worked out a draft of the special higher education reforms program. The program implies the transition to the three-stage education system, bringing the diplomas to the conformity with European diplomas, liberalization of the higher education, privatization of universities and granting of autonomy to them. Privatization of Universities and transition to payable education will seriously impede the chances of poor youth to pursue their study. Aside from this, over 60 thousand students who got the jobs quit the universities.
The new project was rebuffed by the students. The first and second year students of the literature and humanitarian sciences department of Renn-II University gathered for the demonstration protesting against the project. The students of Universities of Paris-XIII, Nant, Versaille-Sen-Kantan, Lion and Grenoble-III supported the demonstrators. Over 10 thousand students organized a demonstration to protest the government’s project. The government did not react to such actions.
