SUPREME ELECTION COMMISSION OF TURKEY MADE RESOLUTION

As stated, the Cassation Court of Turkey had made a verdict related to participation right of the Country’s DEXAP (Democratic People Party) Party in the 2002 November parliamentary elections.

The votes (2 million votes, approximately) they garnered were considered invalid. After the verdict was made, several political parties addressed the Supreme Election Commission demanding to abolish the results of 2002 November parliament elections and conduct by-elections.

On 3 October, the Turkish Supreme Election Commission held a sitting and rejected conduction of new elections. Turkish opposition parties assessed this as a political step and demanded the Commission members to resign.
