‘SWITZERLAND KEEN ON ENERGY COOPERATION WITH AZERBAIJAN’

Baku, May 12 (AZERTAC). Azeri Deputy Minister of Industry and Energy Natiq Abbasov has met today members of the Switzerland-Azerbaijan friendship group of the Swiss parliament and representatives of the country`s private energy companies.
Abbasov briefed the visitors on the ongoing economic development in Azerbaijan and the country`s role in energy security of Europe.
He praised the current level of relationship between Azerbaijan and Switzerland, saying “this visit will contribute to deepening it even more.”
Attending the meeting, director of the Agency for Renewable and Alternative Energy Sources under the Ministry Akim Badalov said President Ilham Aliyev attaches special importance to effective use of renewable sources. He also stressed the necessity of using Switzerland`s relevant experience.
Walter Steinmann, Swiss State Secretary of Energy and Director of the Federal Office of Energy, who was also part of the delegation, stressed the role of Azerbaijan in Europe`s energy security.
Steinmann said his country was interested in development of cooperation with Azerbaijan in all spheres including energy one.
Heads of Swiss private energy companies spoke of prospects for the Trans Adriatic gas pipeline project, stressing that they want Azerbaijan to be involved in it.
Swiss ambassador to Azerbaijan Alain Guidetti was present in the meeting.
