Skal International Baku holds 13th sitting
Baku, February 21 (AZERTAC). The 13th meeting of the Baku SKAL-club, a member of the International Association of Travel and Tourism Professionals SKAL, has been held in Azerbaijan`s capital on Wednesday.
President of Baku SKAL Club Ruslan Guliyev briefed participants on the company`s activities and its priorities for 2013.
"Skal International Baku is the first organization between CIS countries. On October 8, 2009 in Hillside hotel of Baku took place solemn opening ceremony of Skal International Baku with the official support of Azerbaijan Culture and Tourism Ministry. The main aim of the club is to establish contacts and close cooperation with similar clubs in other countries, providing comprehensive assistance to colleagues from other countries and to exhibit the tourism potential of Azerbaijan to all over the world and tourism lovers, tourists” he said.
The attendees also were informed on “Young Skal Azerbaijan”, which established in 2013.
The event featured discussion on cooperation opportunities, problems, as well as price policy among hotels and tourism companies operating in Azerbaijan and presentation on TEMPUS project, the International Air Transport Association, IATA authorized training center and “Shafran” hotel.
The sitting saw signing of memorandum of cooperation between Skal International Baku and the National Non-Governmental Organizations Forum.
New members of the Skal İnternational Baku club were received certificates.
Skal is a professional organization of tourism leaders around the world, promoting global tourism and friendship. It is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry. Its members, the industry`s managers and executives, meet at local, national, regional and international levels to discuss and pursue topics of common interest.
Skal International today has approximately 20,000 members in 480 Clubs throughout 89 nations. Most activities occur at local level, moving up through National Committees, under the umbrella of Skal International, headquartered at the General Secretariat in Torremolinos, Spain.
Skal International is governed by an Executive Committee of seven members, elected by delegates to an annual General Assembly, held during the World Congress, hosted by a different country each year. This allows members first-hand observation of the travel and tourism potential around the world.
