Skvortsova called alcohol the main cause of death among men in Russia

Baku, February 7, AZERTAC

Russian Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova on the radio station Vesti FM said that 70% of the deaths of men of working age are associated with the use of alcoholic beverages, according to the “RT”.

"70% is alcohol - associated mortality, and not only acute ... but also accumulative alcohol mortality - cirrhosis, peptic ulcer and all complications, pancreonecrosis, early hypertension," the minister said.

At the same time, Skvortsova noted a positive trend regarding the number of deaths due to alcohol consumption due to a decrease in the number of surrogate products.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reported a 7% reduction in the number of crimes committed while intoxicated.

In mid-January, the State Duma offered to sell alcohol and tobacco in special stores.
