Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament meets Chairman of the National People’s Congress of China

As earlier reported, the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Ogtay Asadov is on an official visit to the People’s Republic of China.
On arrival, Speaker Ogtay Asadov met Chairman of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China Li Zhanshu, who proudly recalled historical bounds connecting the two countries, expressed hope for further expansion of these relations basing on mutual interests. Li Zhanshu, in particular, reminded the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to China in 2015 in the course of which were adopted decisions for bilateral benefits in various fields. He expressed confidence the Republic of Azerbaijan would further prosper under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
Li Zhanshu said that the people of China support Azerbaijan’s efforts for regional development, its contribution to peace and security in the world, congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the first democratic and secular state in the Moslem East.
The current visit to China, Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament said, would strongly contribute to the development of bilateral ties, including the inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries. This would, Asadov stressed, promote expansion of cooperation between the legislative bodies of both countries.
The sides also focused on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict and expressed support for peaceful solution of the problem in the frame of international laws.
Speaker of Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan highlighted the possible cooperation spheres, including economy, tourism, education, culture and others.
The parliamentary delegation of Azerbaijan comprises head of the Azerbaijan-China Interparliamentary working group Sayavush Novruzov, MPs Aliaga Huseynov, Khanlar Fatiyev, Malik Hasanov, Hikmat Mammadov, head of the Administration of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis (Parliament) Safa Mirzayev and others.
