I have been deeply saddened by the news of the death of your father, a big friend of the people of Azerbaijan Eduard Amvrosiyevich Shevardnadze.

Eduard Shevardnadze was an outstanding statesman, who earned well-deserved respect and great authority worldwide, and a noble person who put all his strength in selflessly serving the people of brotherly Georgia.

Great friendship of Heydar Aliyev and Eduard Shevardnadze, the two great sons of our nations, will forever remain in our hearts.

At this difficult time for you and your family, on my own behalf and on behalf of my whole family, I express my deepest condolences to you and share in your grief. We sincerely mourn with you and share your pain over this severe and irreparable loss.
