Top two remaining seeds Ovtcharov and Samsonov go through to last eight

Baku, June 18, AZERTAC

The third round of the men's table tennis singles went largely true to form at Baku Sports Hall on Thursday, with European No18 Stefan Fegerl's (AUT) exit to 25th-ranked Kou Lei of Ukraine perhaps the biggest upset.

Paul Drinkhall (GBR), meanwhile, got his first career win over Bojan Tokic (SLO), and European No3 Vladimir Samsonov (BLR) fought off France's team silver medallist Simon Gauzy 4-2.

Top seed Dimitrij Ovtcharov (GER) has not yet dropped a game. He beat Adrien Mattenet (FRA) 4-0.

The European No1 plays Andrej Gacina (CRO) in the men's singles quarterfinals, which begin at 19:00 on Thursday.
