Typhoon Hinnamnor leaves S. Korea, leaving 3 dead, 8 missing
Baku, September 6, AZERTAC
Three people were found dead and eight others went missing in South Korea after Typhoon Hinnamnor passed by the southern part of the country Tuesday, authorities said, according to Yonhap News Agency.
Pohang city officials said seven people were reported to be out of contact after entering the inundated underground parking lot of an apartment building in the city at around 6:30 a.m. to remove their cars.
Rescuers are currently carrying out an operation to drain the parking garage and find those missing.
Super Typhoon Hinnamnor moved out of South Korea early Tuesday morning about 2 1/2 hours after making landfall on the southern coast, the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said.
With an atmospheric pressure of 955 hectopascals at its center and maximum wind speed of 40 kilometers per second as of 6 a.m. the intensity of Typhoon Hinnamnor was similar to that of Maemi in 2003, one of the most devastating typhoons to hit South Korea.
