UN chief: Major step forward with Addis Ababa Action Agenda

Baku, July 17, AZERTAC

A major step forward in building a world of prosperity and dignity for all has been achieved, said the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, according to the United Nations Radio.

Ban Ki-moon was commenting on the outcome of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development, which ended on Thursday.

In Ethiopia, Member States adopted what has been called the "Addis Ababa Action Agenda".

According to the UN, the new Addis Ababa Action Agenda will revitalize the global partnership for development.

It will also establish a strong foundation for the post-2015 development agenda, a new set of global targets replacing the Millennium Development Goals at the end of the year.

These new goals, also called the SDGs, are expected to be adopted in September at United Nations Headquarters in New York during the annual high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly.
