US DEPARTMENT OF STATE ANNOUNCED AMOUNTS FOR DEMINING PROGRAM ASSISTANCE
On July 2, 2003, State Department's Bureau of Political-Military Affairs announced the amounts of financial aid to the South Caucasian countries within the framework of the humanitarian Demining Program. Since 1993, the United States has committed over $700 million to global mine action. The United States has provided more than 21,545,000 US dollars to the South Caucasian countries. The biggest share was delivered to Azerbaijan, 8 million 620 thousand US dollars. Some 100 experiences sappers and equipment were given to the government of Azerbaijan. Besides, the United States in conjunction with UNICEF also provided trainings for 800 teachers, 500 medical personnel, and 200 representatives from public organizations.
