‘US attaches great importance to relations with Azerbaijan’
Baku, May 4, AZERTAC
“The United States attaches great importance to relations with Azerbaijan,” said head of the delegation of House of Representatives of the US Congress Robert Goodlatte as he met with Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov.
Robert Goodlatte noted that successful bilateral cooperation in various areas promises new prospects.
The sides hailed the current level of relations between Azerbaijan and the United States and exchanged views on deepening cooperation in the bilateral format.
Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov briefed the US congressmen on Azerbaijan’s foreign policy priorities, large-scale energy projects at the initiative and with involvement of Azerbaijan and development of the non-oil sector.
Providing an insight into the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which is the main threat to stability and security in the region, FM Mammadyarov said that the attempts to change internationally recognized borders of states are unacceptable. He noted that the demands of the UN Security Council's relevant resolutions on immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan must be implemented and the conflict must be resolved within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
The sides also exchanged views on a number of issues on international and regional agenda.
