Foreign Minister of India Yashvant Sunha is paying an official visit to Uzbekistan. He met with President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov on November 8.

Having stressed that Uzbek and Indian peoples are linked by longstanding ties of friendship, Islam Karimov noted that trade-economical ties are developing between two countries at present. The cultural and educational cooperation also make us glad.

The meeting participants noted that positions of Uzbekistan and India on such world challenges as counter-terrorism, religious extremism, drug business, provision of stability and security in the region coincide.

The sides also exchanged views on further development of trade-economic, socio-cultural, scientific-technical ties and position in the region.
