Universal Music suspends all operations in Russia

The world's largest record company Universal Music has suspended its activities in Russia due to the situation around Ukraine, the Variety magazine reported on Tuesday, according to TASS.

"Effective immediately, we are suspending all operations in Russia and closing our offices there," the magazine cites the company’s statement.

According to the publication, Universal Music will continue to pay salaries to its employees, but the recording of musicians collaborating with the label will be paused.

More than 50 Russian artists cooperate with Universal Music. Outside Russia, the most famous representatives of the record company include South Korean pop group BTS, American singers Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish, bands Metallica, Rammstein, Coldplay and Imagine Dragons.
