VIOLATION OF CEASEFIRE AIMS TO BREAK STABILITY IN THE REGION
On 1 August, foreign minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Vilayat Guliyev met with the delegation led by EU special envoy on South Caucasus Heike Talvitie.
Noting that he highly assesses the visit of the European Union’s delegation to Azerbaijan, minister Vilayat Guliyev said that allotting grants to develop the Country’s economy, the European Union proves its particular attention to Azerbaijan.
Emphasizing that there is no economic development without political stability, the Minister stressed the necessity of resolution to the regional conflicts for integration of the European Union. Touching upon the peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Vilayat Guliyev stressed the necessity of successive efforts by numerous international organizations to reach concrete results. Calling on the world community not to recognize the present status quo in settlement of the conflict, the Minister reminded that European Union has much more effective instruments to change the situation. He assessed the latest destructive statements of the Armenian officials and frequent violation of ceasefire by Armenia’s armed forces as an attempt of the official Yerevan to strain the social-political situation.
Heike Talvitie said the goal of the visit is to become familiar with the steps made in the South Caucasus to integrate to Europe and discuss issues on cooperation in numerous fields. Noting that Azerbaijan has become the center of the communication net in the region, Mr. Heike Talvitie said the Baku secretary of TACECA plays the role of provider in this item and the conducted reforms would serve integration to the common European family.
Touching upon the peacefully settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Mr. Heike Talvitie assessed the latest violations of ceasefire as an action to break stability in the region. Stating that he met with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, Heike Talvitie stressed the necessity of increasing the efforts of international community for quick and just settlement of the conflict.
