MEETING OF PRIME MINISTER OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV WITH THE PRESIDENT OF CROATIA STJEPAN MESIC
On September 23, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with the President of Croatia Stjepan Mesic.
Ilham Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the meeting and said that there are many similar features between Croatia and Azerbaijan. The both countries have newly gained their independence; they suffer from conflicts and faced same problems in the past. Besides, the two states managed to successfully overcome economic difficulties, which they faced. Prime Minister said that it is necessary to develop mutually beneficial cooperation for strengthening the Azerbaijani-Croatian relationships. The states are able to make closer the relations between business circles by showing political will and creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurs.
President Stjepan Mesic reminded that there is a definite experience of economic cooperation between the two countries. During the Soviet times, vessels built at Croatian shipping yards were sent to Azerbaijan. It is important to restore and strengthen this cooperation, he said. Mr. Mesic said that chemical and tourism fields as well as other production spheres of Azerbaijan attract business people of Croatia.
Besides, the parties discussed other issues of mutual interest.
