Walter Peeraer: 73 per cent of works on TAP project have been successfully implemented

“As much as 73 percent of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project, which envisages transportation of natural gas from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz Stage 2 to the EU countries, has been successfully implemented,” TAP President Walter Peeraer has told AZERTAC’s correspondent in an exclusive interview.
“TAP is progressing according to schedule. We are according to the plan which we started two years ago, in 2016. In Albania, Italy and Greece we are also doing well. More than 73 per cent of works has already been completed,” the TAP President said.
Mr Peeraer noted that the implementation of the TAP project in Albania and Greece had been successfully underway. “We highly appreciate the support of the governments of both countries in this regard,” he said.
Responding to a question about the construction of Adriatic Sea offshore segment of the TAP project, he said: “This segment of the project will be completed by 2019.”
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) pipeline will connect to the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) on the Turkish-Greek border, run through Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Italy's south.
TAP will be 878 kilometers in length (Greece 550 kilometers, Albania 215 kilometers, Adriatic Sea 105 kilometers, and Italy 8 kilometers).
TAP's shareholding is comprised of BP (20 percent), SOCAR (20 percent), Snam S.p.A. (20 percent), Fluxys (19 percent), Enagás (16 percent) and Axpo (5 percent).
