Youth Foundation under President of Azerbaijan receives UN supported King Hamad Youth Empowerment award

The Youth Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan has received the King Hamad Youth Empowerment award to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals during the Youth Forum of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on January 30-31.
The Youth Empowerment award, established in cooperation with United Nations Development Program (UNDO) and the Kingdom of Bahrain, aims to empower young people and give them the attention, encouragement, and motivation needed.
The award has 4 different categories; Individuals, Government sector, Private Sector, Non-Profit organizations and international organizations. The Youth Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan received its award as a government entity.
The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum, during which the current award winners are introduced, provides a platform for youth to engage in a dialogue with Member States and share ideas on innovation, collective action and solutions to global problems. It also addresses the concept of “shared prosperity”, which is at the core of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Azerbaijan Youth Foundation under the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan was established on December 19, 2011 according to the Presidential Decree No. 542 adopted by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The main purpose of the Youth Foundation is to ensure the effective implementation of the state’s youth policy, laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
