Abu Dhabi hosts special event on Azerbaijan as part of “Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies” international conference
Baku, March 12 (AZERTAC). A special event on Azerbaijan has been held as part of “Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies” international conference in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
An Azerbaijani delegation led by Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade participated in the event.
It brought together Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, as well as religious, political and social figures from the UAE, Syria and Saudi Arabia.
In his speech, initiator of the event, UAE Presidential Adviser Shaykh Al-Sayed Ali Al-Hashemi hailed Azerbaijan`s place in the Muslim world. He praised religious tolerance in Azerbaijan, saying it can be a model to follow for some Muslim countries.
Allahshukur Pashazade said representatives of Shia and Sunni branches of Islam had been coexisting in peace and harmony in Azerbaijan. He highlighted the achievements of the country`s social and economic policy, adding Azerbaijan had become the regional leader. He also pointed to success of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy, adding the country had considerably improved its international image.
The event featured speeches by Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, chair of the Azerbaijani parliamentary committee on social policy Hadi Rajabli, chair of the parliamentary committee on human rights Rabiyyat Aslanova and Azerbaijani Ambassador to the UAE Elkhan Gahraman.
