African Union commissioner: African countries have developed various strategies for tackling climate change
Baku, November 14, AZERTAC
"In the African Union, we, as 55 African countries, have developed various strategies for tackling climate change,” Josefa Leonel Correia Sacko, Commissioner for Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment of the African Union, told AZERTAC.
“We want the mobilization of funds from other countries in order to successfully develop these strategies. Because our strategies are closely linked to climate finance,” she said.
“The commitments defined in the 2015 Paris Agreement have not yet been fully implemented,” the African Union commissioner emphasized.
"We also want the operationalization of the Fund for responding to Loss and Damage," she said.
The African Union commissioner also hailed the inclusive participation in the COP29, adding that this event brought various government entities, credit sector, and social communities representing their countries.
