Baku, May 22, AZERTAC
“Azerbaijan is strengthening its role as a reliable transport-logistics center connecting Europe and Asia,” Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov said at the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) held in Ashgabat.
According to the Prime Minister, the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects and the development of international transport corridors are contributing to the expansion of the country’s transit potential and the strengthening of logistics links.
He noted that in recent years Azerbaijan has accelerated the implementation of major economic initiatives aimed at diversifying the economy and ensuring sustainable growth.
He also stated that the “Strategy for the Development of the Digital Economy in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2029,” which envisages accelerated development of the technology sector, innovation, and digital transformation, was approved in December 2025.
The Prime Minister emphasized that these initiatives, along with the sustainable development of the non-oil sector and the expansion of international economic cooperation, contribute to the formation of a new economic model for Azerbaijan, focused on technology, infrastructure development, and regional integration.
At the end of his speech, he highlighted that Azerbaijan consistently adheres to the principles of good-neighborliness, mutual respect, and constructive partnership within the CIS.
