Archbishop Gallagher celebrates Mass at Church of Immaculate Conception in Baku

Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for the Holy See’s Relations with States and International Organizations, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, presided over the Eucharistic celebration at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Baku on Sunday.
Archbishop Paul R. Gallagher was assisted by Vladimír Fekete, Apostolic Prefect of Azerbaijan, Marek Solczyński, Apostolic Nuncio to Azerbaijan, and the clergy of the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
Archbishop Gallagher concluded the proceedings with a prayer.
On December 14, Baku hosted a reception on the occasion of the blessing of the grounds and laying of the foundation stone of the new church dedicated to Saint John Paul II.
As part of his visit to Azerbaijan, Archbishop Paul R. Gallagher, Secretary for the Holy See’s Relations with States and International Organizations, attended a ceremony for blessing of the ground and laying of the foundation stone of the new church dedicated to Saint John Paul II in Baku the same day. Archbishop Paul R. Gallagher got acquainted with the project of the church.
On May 1, 2024, the Baku City Executive Authority issued an order to allocate 0.17 hectares of land for the construction of the Catholic Church in Azerbaijan.
