AZAL, MINISTRY FOR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS, SOCAR, STATE FRONTIER SERVICE, GENERAL PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE MAKE JOINT STATEMENT ON HELICOPTER CRASH
MI-8T helicopter belonging to the Azalhelicopters company crashed into the sea on October 12, 2007 at around 21:30. The helicopter with a crew including Victor Glinenko, Vladimir Nekrasov, Ahmad Aliyev and Jahid Ibrahimov came down 200 meters off the Khazar-4” floating drilling rig of while evacuating sick Asadov Soltan and accompanying him Shashkayev Javad.
The emergency operations center comprised of heads of the Ministry for Emergency Situations, State Oil Company, State Frontier Service, Azerbaijan Airlines found the helicopter at the depth of 12 meters and lifted a piece of wreckage of a helicopter and dead bodies of Vladimir Nekrasov, Ahmad Aliyev on October 13, at 13:00.
In order to find the remaining four bodies, the AZAL, Ministry of Emergencies, SOCAR, State Frontier Service, Defense Ministry are continuing search operations despite bad weather.
The Head of State regularly receives information about the investigation and rescue operations.
The General Prosecutor’s Office has launched criminal proceedings into the case.
The experts examined the wreckage of the helicopter while bodies of Vladimir Nekrasov and Ahmad Aliyev were sent for the forensic examination. Dispatchers working at the Khazar-4” floating drilling rig were questioned as witnesses.
The investigation into the causes of the helicopter crash is underway.
