Azerbaijani energy expert makes report at 2nd Annual Frankfurt Gas Forum
Baku, December 13 (AZERTAC). Energy expert of the Strategic Research Center (SAM) under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Gulmira Rzayeva delivered a report on the "European gas market and possible marketing of the Azerbaijani gas" at the second Annual Frankfurt Gas Forum.
The academic partner of this year's event was the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The first day of the two-day forum featured discussions on the Current Challenges and Future Prospects of the Southern Gas Corridor, the Geopolitics of the Southern Gas Corridor and its impact on the European energy security, Prospects of the EU Gas industry and Investment Opportunities of the Southern Gas Corridor, Future Prospects for Russian gas exports to the EU: How will Russia trade in the new EU gas market.
This year's forum also focused on the realization of the European Union's diversification of natural gas routes and resources. The developments in the Southern Gas Corridor and the selection of TAP to transit the Shah Deniz gas to Europe, the challenges with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) and the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) were among the main topics on the first day of the Forum.
The second day of the event discussed the East Mediterranean LNG to the EU from Israel and Cyprus: Prospects and Challenges, the US Shale Gas Impact on the Global Gas Industry and the Potential of US LNG Exports to the EU, Shale Gas Prospects in the EU and the US in the Framework of the Trans-Atlantic Free Trade Area.
The new gas supplies discovered in Eastern Mediterranean, gas exports - as LNG or pipeline gas, and how these will affect the development and prospects of the Southern Gas Corridor, were also among the issues to be addressed on the second day of the Forum.In addition, this year's Forum featured discussions on the shale gas revolution in the United States, which is already impacting the global energy market, and its geopolitical implications. This year's Forum brought together world gas business leaders, European and German energy and financial senior executives together with public policy decision makers, to address these issues and facilitate financial and commercial agreements in the natural gas industry.
Former U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza was a keynote speaker of the event.
Other speakers at the event included Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Enjoinment of Cyprus Nicos Kouyialis, Senior Fellow of the Eurasian Program at the Jamestown Foundation of the U.S. Vladimir Socor, Israeli Energy Expert Gina Cohen, CEO of the Energy Stream CMG GmbH of Germany Anthony Livanios, Senior Adviser of the Bureau of Energy Resources of the U.S. Daniel D. Stein, Chairman of the INDARGO SA of Switzerland Giovanny del Conte, and Energy Security Specialist at the Methinks Ltd of the UK John Roberts.
The 2013 Frankfurt Gas Forum (FGF) is an annual platform that was inaugurated in 2012 from the European Union Commissioner for Energy Mr. Gunther Oettinger.
The Forum aims to bring world gas business leaders, European and German energy and financial senior executives together with public policy decision makers, to facilitate financial and commercial agreements in natural gas industry. The purpose of the FGF is to promote investments and to bring natural gas companies and the government leaders to Frankfurt am Main, the Metropolis of German and the European Finance.
