Azerbaijan’s CEC Chairman meets with observation mission of Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia

Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC), met with Sergei Rachkov, head of the observation mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, and his accompanying delegation.
Chairman Panahov reported that a total of 598 international observers, as well as over 112,000 local observers, will monitor the snap elections. He added that to ensure transparency, webcams have been installed at 1,000 polling stations across the country, allowing for direct and continuous online observation on Election Day without requiring registration.
Panahov noted that 6,421,960 citizens will be eligible to exercise their voting rights in the snap parliamentary elections.
He further stated that 990 candidates are competing for parliamentary seats, with 305 of them nominated by 25 political parties.
“A total of 6,478 polling stations have been established nationwide, including 2,471 locations equipped with ramps for disabled access,” he said.
During the meeting, Panahov emphasized that this election marks the first time parliamentary elections will be conducted across Azerbaijan's entire sovereign territory. He highlighted that 54 polling stations have been set up in the liberated territories to allow over 42,000 voters to exercise their constitutional rights.
Sergei Rachkov expressed his pleasure at participating in the observation of the snap elections to the Milli Majlis. He stated that they would actively monitor the election process and noted that they had visited several polling stations to observe the preparations. Rachkov also expressed confidence that the elections would be held under safe conditions.
The meeting also included discussions on various issues related to the elections.
